Each year on the first Saturday in May, the Pilates Method Alliance
(PMA) celebrates Pilates Day.
Pilates Day was created by the PMA to promote awareness of the many
benefits that Pilates Method brings to every age group, and to
promote healthy living.
Based on the principles: Whole Body Health, Whole Body Commitment,
and Breath, Pilates is suitable and beneficial for all ages and all
exercise levels, whether you are trying to enhance your sports
performance or rehabilitate and injury, whether this is your first
attempt at exercise or just want to try something new. Pilates is a
great way to develop a lifetime of healthy habits.
The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) is the international,
not-for-profit, professional association and certifying agency
dedicated to the teachings of Joseph H. and Clara Pilates.
Their
mission is to foster community, integrity, and respect for
diversity; establish certification and continuing education
standards; and promote the Pilates method of exercise.
